The “I have, who has?” game

The “I have __, who has __?” game is something very popular with teachers around the world, especially in the US. I discovered it last year from a teacher YouTuber that I watch and ever since then, I have done this game many times with my different classes, different topics and terms, and different students, and let me tell you the truth – this is one of the most fun and chill ways to revise the material with no stress on your side or on the students’ side.

So if you are interested in a joyful whole group/classroom game, that is great for morning meetings and revision on different topics (not only computer-related), then keep on reading!

You have several questions on a piece of paper. Those questions are on a specific topic that you would like to revise with your students. Each question is in its own cell. Above each question, there is an answer to another question written. The “I have __” part is the answer above, and the “Who has __” part is the question. See the picture below for reference.

How to play the game:

1. Cut out the questions. Each student should have a strip that says, “I have __. Who has__?”

2. Mix up the strips so they are not in order.

3. Sit the students in a circle and give each one a strip. If your class has less than 30 kids, then either you (the teacher) could have the extra strips, or you could give them to a student who then will have to watch more than one strip during the game.

4. Have the kid with the starting question begin the game. To begin, the student reads his/her question.

5. Then, whoever has the answer to the question reads it, and then reads their own question on their strip. The game continues like this until it goes in a complete circle and the first student that only read their question, reads their answer too.

6. After you play once, you can have the kids switch strips and play again! Enjoy!

You can use the game with any class, as long as they have been through a whole topic that has enough terms, like Computer networks or Computer viruses. The review game requires the whole class to work together to answer the questions. If done correctly it should go in a complete circle without repeating itself.

The students must do this revision game silently and not answer unless the answer is in their strip. In my classroom, we play three times every time. The first time is a long struggle but they make it through, then I collect the strips and pass them out again. The second time the game goes by faster. The third time should be the fastest and I keep track of the time we spend playing each round, to show the students how they improve on every try.

Stick a sticker on the strip with the first question, or print it on a different colored paper, or draw on it, so you will always know which strip is first and with which to start the game. This is optional. You can also start with a random question.

If you want to test out the game with the topics “Computer networks” and “Computer viruses, threats and security”, then you can check out my TpT store and download the two resources. Here are the links:

This is what the game is and I hope you will try it out and have some revision fun with your students!

Have a wonderful and very sunny day! Bye!
