This book just swept me off my feet! Wow!

I recently started investing and looking into the different financial topics, big companies, advice, tips, etc. Of course, Elon Musk is one of the most inspiring self-made billionaires on the planet and I just had to know more about him and his story. I’ve always liked the guy, but I never knew just how amazing and inspiring he is! I found his biography in a small bookstore down the old part of the city, and I immediately bought it, but not only because of the financial part of his persona, also because he is tech savvy, obsessed with technology and a visionary!

I found the tale of Elon Musk’s childhood all the way through Zip, PayPal, Solar City, SpaceX and Tesla fascinating and inspiring. It’s very rare to find a self-made billionaire nowadays. One thing in particular stood out. He’s not motivated by greed and money, also very rare among billionaires – “He’s not trying to make money, it just happens for him”, a great quote from the book. The explanations of what kind of a child and student he was, what his parents did and how, his family, those things really opened my eyes for him and filled the picture of Elon Musk in my brain a little bit more.

Vance, the author, did extensive research before writing the book and describes Musk’s business projects in elaborate detail, including: how they started; financing; development; failures; successes; leadership; personnel; buy-outs; etc. Musk’s trajectory didn’t go straight from start-up to billionaire. Far from it, actually. In fact, he nearly went bankrupt several times, and those moments were the most inspiring! Also, the style of the author and the suspense there was at times, were just thrilling!

I never knew how much I never knew (haha) about Elon Musk’s projects and aspirations. Out of all the super entrepreneurs and technological legends of the modern era, Musk ticks all the boxes on my dreams and passions, particularly space. Space has always been the frontier that intrigues me the most; for a single man to dream of colonizing Mars and actually doing all he can to make that a reality is just simply astounding.

And then of course, there is Tesla. Aside from the clean energy technology which I am a huge fan of, how an electric car can become one of the most desirable and good-looking cars in the world is another example of the visionary genius that Musk is.

I admire Musk for his brilliance and accomplishments, and I liked this book. I’d recommend the book to readers interested in Elon Musk, but not only. If you need hope for the future of the planet, or if you need inspiration, this book is for you! It really inspired me and made me think that the sky is the limit, I can do anything if I am ready to work, work, work! It made me dream big, it made me fantasize about a human Mars colony, it even made me check for the requirements to enter the Martian society, of which Musk is a part of, haha. The book is amazing!

Whether you’re a fan of Musk, or just intrigued by his ideas and achievements, or even if you only just desired the Tesla badly, this is a recommended read. I think it can definitely inspire you to be a better person, to see the future more clearly, to be more progressive and ambitious, to want more of life! And, with the help of this book, why not inspire your whole classroom? Light the fires in their hearts! After all, they are the ones that are going to build the future, right?
